Focal points

Each country receiving GEF assistance has designated government officials responsible for GEF activities:

A political focal point that coordinates matters related to GEF governance. The GEF Political focal point has the following responsibilities:

• Distribute documents
• Ensure overall policy consistency
• Ensure GEF policies consistent with national policies
• Communicate Government views
• Act as in-country Government contact point
• Report on GEF Council Meetings

An operational focal point that oversees project related matters. These focal points help ensure that projects arise from their country's own priorities. The GEF operational focal point has the following responsibilities:

• Ensure GEF-activities are consistent with national policies
• Identify project ideas to meet country priorities
• Facilitate in-country consultations
• Provide feedback on projects

The Ministry of Environment, Local Government and Rural Development is the Operational Focal point for Pakistan.
