The Protection and Management of Pakistan Wetlands Project PDF-B phase is the continuation of providing assistance by the UNDP/GEF to the government of Pakistan for managing their resources on sustainable ways. The implementation of this project has been assigned to World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF) Pakistan to ensure maximum participation of all stakeholders and enhance the capacity of the Government of Pakistan’s concerned line departments to cope with the responsibilities of wetlands managements.

The PDF-B objective is to do the necessary work for the implementation of full GEF project on Protection and Management of Pakistan Wetlands for the conservation and sustainable use of the biological diversity of Pakistan’s wetlands. Initially 12-13 wetlands sites / complexes will be selected for the detail biological and socio-ecological assessment. Out of these, 3-4 sites / complexes will be selected for preparing their management plan as a role model that can be extended to other internationally important wetlands in Pakistan. This phase will also search and coordinate with the co-financer of the full project implementation phase.
